 This Bottle? Bernabeleva  Camino de Navaherreros Blanco is an expressive, organic white wine from the Vinos de Madrid region in Spain. This regional blend features native grapes like Albillo Real and Macabeo grown on granite soils. You will find aromas of white flowers, wild honey, stone fruit including peach and apricot, and fresh citrus. On the palate, expect vibrant acidity with a silky, textured palate, subtle minerality, and a crisp, slightly salty or savory finish. This bottle was fermented with wild yeasts and aged sur lie in large French oak barrels or tinajas (clay jars) without heavy filtering. Best pairings would be grilled seafood or fish taco! (oh yeah), seafood paella or garlic shrimp or, for an appetizer, soft goat cheeses or tapas.

   The Label: The woman riding a bear on the wine label honors the land's ancient Celtic history and the Goddess of the Hunt holding a drink (glass of wine?), paired with a family photograph. With regard to the legend and history, the winery name, Bernabeleva, translates to "The Bear's Forest."  The surrounding hills feature ancient stone sculptures of bears left by early Celtic tribes. These "bear" stones show marked sacred forests dedicated to the ancient Goddess of the Hunt.
