When Tuscan producers began planting French Grapes including Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, their wines were downgraded to the lowest tier: Vino da Tavola  (table wine) with no region and no vintage. Those wines, Sassicaia, Tignanello and Ornellaia went on to become some of the most famous in the world, forcing Italy to rewrite the rules. Le Volte Ornellaia is the more approachable expression, blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a hint of Petit Verdot.
