"Frenchtown brings Bordeaux and the Rhône together in an 8-grape
varietal blend that ranges from Merlot to Mourvèdre.
Its fresh and floral aromas are an equally diverse mix of raspberries, blackberry tea, gardenias, lilacs and spun sugar.
The wine feels fresh and clean on the palate as tart black cherry
and lemon zest flavors mingle about.
Tannins and acidity dance a gentle waltz in harmony."
Andy Adds: L'Ecole, a Washington State Winery, is sited in an old 1915 school house, hence, the name L'Ecole, french for school. Frenchtown, Walla Walla Valley’s first settlement, was founded by French Canadians in the early 1800s. A thriving viticulture and winemaking community was established in the Valley in the 1860s.The tasting room still features original chalkboards, light fixtures, and even drinking fountains for children.
Frenchtown Red is basically a meeting between traditional Bordeaux grapes and Rhone varietals. About 85% of the blend comes from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petite Verdot with Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre making up the Rhöne balance. The wine presents flavors of dark cherry, blackberry, black tea, cocoa, plum and a savory herbal note reminiscent of thyme. Some might also pick up a little cinnamon and anise!"
