NYT is all excited saying some California wineries are planing Jacquere and Savoie grapes as well as Alabriño. if you have not tried Jacquere or Savoie, Andy can steer you to a French Bottle. But we are a step ahead here in North Carolina on Albariño. Must be 10 years ago that one of our distributors brought a bottle in a paper bag for us to taste. We knew it was Albariño but thought the bottle was from Spain. We have had Sanctuary Albariño from the Outer Banks ever since that time.
Sanctuary Says: "Pearl is Handcrafted from Albarino, a Spanish White grape that has found a home in Currituck County, and Viognier. It is our boldest and most complex white selection. Nuances of melon, peach and tropical fruit aromas accompany lemon zest and ripe apricots on the palate. Sur lies aging and 24 hour maceration on the skins lend structure, body and complexity to our straw hued Pearl. Alcohol 13.50%"
