Much like Botticelli stepped out of the rigid religious framework theme
of painting, wine rolls on. Syrah is not just a French grape!
Andy Says: "Did you know that Tuscany has a DOC appellation just for Syrah and it has been planted in Tuscany since the 1700s? Near the border with Umbria, Cortona was establsied in 1999 and is producing world class Syrah. Stefano, although young, is the head of The Cortona Consortium which makes the decisions about the DOC. He farms organically and biodynamically. He even partially treads the grapes by foot. A nose of dusty black cherries, red and black fruit, graphite, olive tapenade and white pepper. Enjoy this wine while you can as very few bottles come into North Carolina. Bottom line, when it's gone, it's gone."
