Gruet Brut Sparkling NV

 Andy Says: "I'll never forget the first time I tasted this Sparkling Wine. About 13 years ago, I was working as a wine rep and calling on Sam Etheridge who was just opening AMBROZIA long before joining up with us to start Quench. He poured me a glass of bubbles saying: "Try this Champagne." I took a sip and nodded approvingly commenting that it was a "solid Champagne." Sam grinned saying: "It's not Champagne, it's from New Mexico!" I was equal parts impressed and embarrassed that I had mistaken the wine for the real deal. 

Since then, Gruet has become what I consider a must-have in our sparkling section at Metro. The quality to price ratio is simply outstanding. Founded by a family from Champagne, the winery plants its vineyards at high elevation where the cooler mountain climate helps preserve the bright acidity that makes traditional method Champagne refreshing. Expect classic flavors of apple, citrus and toasty brioche notes. It's the kind of bottle that makes ordinary events seem like a celebration."
